My thoughts on the TM5 Trade up Deal

(Updated May 2024)

I understand that this deal may not be for everyone. Thermomix Australia is not forcing you to take it. They are simply providing you with an offer that may suit some Thermomix owners.

Classes if you are local (Melbourne) or Zooms from anywhere 🙂

Thermomix has never before said you can keep your TM5, but this time……..👇

So, what exactly is the 2024 TM5 trade-in deal?

  • You will receive a $300 discount on your TM6 purchase, regardless of the condition of your Thermomix TM5.
  • Additionally, you will receive a second bowl and blade, which would normally cost $395 if purchased separately. If you have previously owned a Thermomix, you’ll appreciate the convenience of having an extra bowl and blade.
  • It’s worth noting that all postage to and from Thermomix is included as part of the trade-in.
  • Furthermore, you won’t have to communicate with anyone, worry about scammers, or handle payment transfers (like you might with eBay etc). And you won’t need to wait for the cash to clear, or figure out the most cost-effective way to send the old TM5 to its new owner.
  • And the big one. If you like, you can keep your TM5. Thermomix passes on refurbished machines to charities, but given the amount that are returned when they run deals like this, some, unfortunately, would go to landfills. Because they never want to see that happen, you can KEEP IT, gift it, or return it. It’s your choice. I’m sure you know at least one person who would love a TM5 in their kitchen.

I’m seeing so much negativity on social media. Rant coming…

Firstly, I would like to express my gratitude to all the incredible members of my Facebook Group. I truly appreciate each and every one of you because I have never encountered any negativity from our amazing community. Our Group is dedicated to providing support, and I must say, you all excel in assisting one another in learning and sharing everything about your Thermomix and baking in general.

I’m a bit disappointed in what I’ve seen on other people’s social media accounts. As consultants, we gain insights into the inner workings of Thermomix Australia. If you had the opportunity to meet Grace and Bianca Mazur and engage in conversation with them, you would understand. It saddens me when I see stuff that’s clearly made up.

This trade-in offer is not mandatory. It’s simply an offer that you can accept or decline, and honestly, if you don’t like the offer, that’s fine. You don’t have to inform everyone why it’s not for you.

I sold a TM5 several months back, which had additional bowls and blades. We chose a price similar to what you see online, and I had to drop the price three times before finding a buyer. So don’t think just because you see high prices on advertisements that’s what they will actually sell for.

Sadly the TM5 has outdated technology, and not many people are interested in purchasing old tech when there are much better options available. We had to make our sale “pick up only” (and cash) because there are so many scammers and tire kickers out there. Seriously, if I knew this deal was coming up I would have waited. Such a hassle.

How does the TM5 trade-in compare to other stuff?

I’ve seen people compare trading in a motor vehicle with trading in a Thermomix. It’s not a good comparison, as cars tend to take up new tech much slower and have a longer design life (say 20 years). So, let’s discuss something that might be a closer comparison. Below is the current list of what Apple will offer you for your iPhone if you want to trade it in. However, good luck with that; I’ve attempted to trade in once, and they declined due to a scratch. On the other hand, Thermomix will accept your TM5 regardless of its condition. Yep, even if it’s not working.

The iPhone 7 was released in 2016, two years after the initial release of the TM5. It was priced at $1379. Below is the information straight from the Apple site today. They may give you $55 for it.

Next steps

If you’re interested in the deal, please speak up. This offer will end on the 18th of June 2024. I’ve created a webpage that explains the process of upgrading to a brand-new TM6 and includes many answers to frequently asked questions.
